Singh Barristers is honoured to welcome Mr. Allan Rouben * as its Chief Counsel to assist with complex legal cases. Mr. Rouben is a distinguished legal professional with a solid educational foundation, holding a B.A. from McGill University (1982) and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University (1986). Called to the Ontario Bar in 1988, Mr. Rouben quickly established his own practice, demonstrating a deep passion for law and a particular knack for handling complex court cases.

Known for his dedication to personal service, Mr. Rouben values the deep relationships forged with clients over the years, emphasizing the importance of trust, compassion, and strong advocacy in protecting their legal rights. He is a firm believer in the principles of justice and contributes actively to the legal community.

Inspired by Edward Abbott Parry’s “The Seven Lamps of Advocacy,” Mr. Rouben upholds the virtues of honesty, courage, industry, with eloquence, judgment, and fellowship, with a special emphasis on honesty as the cornerstone of the attorney-client relationship. His distinguished practice is a testament to his commitment to excellence and the high ideals of the legal profession.

As an appellate lawyer, Mr. Rouben has a wealth of experience handling appeals in the Court of Appeal for Ontario, many of them on issues of importance to the administration of justice in Ontario. He has written and spoken at conferences in the areas of oral and written advocacy and appellate practice. He has appeared as counsel on interventions for the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association in the Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.

With over three decades of rigorous practice in the legal landscapes of Toronto, Mr. Rouben has developed a comprehensive law practise in the field of civil litigation. His expertise spans in a diverse array of matters, including but not limited to appellate litigation, employment and labour disputes, personal injury and insurance litigation, claims pertaining to long-term disability, cases of professional negligence, disputes among shareholders and partners, alongside select criminal law cases.

His contributions to the legal community extend beyond the courtroom; he has authored numerous scholarly articles and has been a featured speaker at conferences focusing on both oral and written advocacy as well as appellate practice.

Mr. Rouben is a member of the Advocates’ Society, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Criminal Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Osgoode Society.
